If you’re looking for a gorgeous late spring/early summer camping destination, hitch up your new or used RV and head to Great Smoky Mountains National Park! This stunning park is in Georgia’s backyard and – if you’re anything like my family – you’ll want to return again and again. Check out some of the things to do, see, and explore below!
Scenic Hikes: Waterfalls
Great Smoky Mountains National Park boasts some seriously beautiful forest hiking trails, and your efforts will be rewarded with stunning waterfalls! Laurel Falls, Rainbow Falls, Abrams Falls, and Ramsey Cascades are some of the most iconic falls you’ll want to see, especially in the springtime. The spring thaw means the waterfalls are at their fullest and most impressive – the perfect time to hike to see them!
Plus, with over 800 miles of trails for hikers of all skill levels, the Smokies are a perfect place to enjoy a one full day after the next outside – especially during the mild spring weather.
Scenic Drive: Cades Cove
If you’re a little tired after a full day or two of hiking, treat yourself to something just as scenic but with less exertion – a drive through Cades Cove! You’ll enjoy 11 miles of breathtaking scenic landscape, wildlife, and wildflowers. Keep your eyes peeled for black bears with their cubs (make sure to look for them in trees!) and drive slowly enough to get pictures along the way. Never ever approach wildlife – it’s dangerous and illegal. That’s what your zoom lens on the camera is for!
Scenic Lodging: Gorgeous Campgrounds
